There is an increasing need to speed up the production process at all stages in the program chain. Increasing business pressures mean that maximum efficiency is required from both production facilities and their staff. Any delay is likely to have an equivalent cost in wasted staff time, lost production time and later programme delivery.
Use of MXFactory allows you to access the content more quickly and get on with using your Avid for the creative process!
For maximum flexibility, you can run MXFactory without your Avid and import the converted content as MXF files later. And with a suitable control script, you can batch process in advance of needing the programme material.

What can you expect from ?
MXFactory takes video frames and creates an Avid compatible MXF file in real time that will 'fast import' into most Avid systems. This means that if the MXF file is placed in an Avid media directory, then the file becomes immediately available in the Avid media tool to drag into a working bin.
Currently MXFactory is implemented as a shared library (currently Windows or Linux, with Mac available soon) that can be linked with existing applications. The interface requires that uncompressed frames are passed to the DLL which will compress the frames to create Avid compatible JFIF media (28:1, 15:1 or 14:1 at the moment) and write the file to disc.
The Windows version is also available as a plug-in to MXFixer.
MXFactory will:
- Create media suitable for 24, 25 or 30 FPS projects
- Add metadata that will show up in bin columns
- Add timecode and/or keycode information
There will be more Avid compatible formats available in the future. Please enquire if you currently have a specific need.
We are also able to create a stand-alone application using MXFactory technology. As these applications are used in specialised situations, the interface is unique in each case, so far. However, it is usually fairly simple to build an application using MXFactory that will integrate into another system.
The MXFactory application lends itself easily to customisation. Please ask if you have a particular requirement.
